I can tell you from firsthand observation that OSYC is a few pilings on the beach

I have heard that both Long Beach and Singing River are knocked out.

Can't speak about others

Has anyone heard from Bob Hodges, Mike Parsons, and the Grrlz From NOLA, Barb and Nancy?

Hey Tami,

I evacuated to Mobile and stored my A-cat in a warehouse. I've sold the boat to Jennifer Lindsey in Gulfport, FL and will be taking delivery of a new A2 later in the month. I just hope Lake Pontchartrain won't be so polluted due to the draining of New Orleans. It's a real concern.

Pontchartrain Yacht Club is mostly intact and can be repaired. Southern Yacht Club was battered and caught fire. That's a real loss for the entire US sailing community as it was one of the best yacht clubs in the country and I believe the oldest. Some very valuable items and trophies were probably lost unless they were removed.

I have not heard from Mike Parsons. Johnny Lovell evacuated to Houston and is staying at Charlie Ogeltree's house. I'd like to know the status of Marcus Eagan. His family had homes in New Orleans and Bay Waveland. I know the home in Bay Waveland was totaled (along with Bay Waveland Yacht Club).

We'll all rebuild, it will take time but we'll be out sailing again in a couple of weeks.

Bob Hodges
