Hi everyone! Greetings from Greece!

Great to find this lively forum for cat sailors!

I've just bought an old (1974?) wooden,German made Tornado. The original mastbase had been altered beyond use, no rotation,no fore/aft movement - bolted down !!

I need information - What was the original like ? Where might I find one - new or used ? Any ideas?

Try to see if a Marstrom or Reg White base will fit. This would be the easiest solution.

I'm not certain if this is the builder of your boat but you can try contacting them:

My T was a 1974 Sailcraft Of Canada model. The mast base was a cast piece that was hinged to the rear side of the main beam. The base centered over the striker of course. The general shape was like a snow cone with the tip cut off and the bottom flanged out to fit the shape of the main tube. The cut off part was flat with a bolt going through it into the base of the mast. Mine fell of once coming back from San Francisco to Dallas and dented the top of my car. I think it was made by Reg White.

Good luck in finding one...

Thom
