Filter sailing discussions from other BS
This new forum, which I wholeheartedly advocate, suffers from an ailment that also plagued the old forum. Threads that start out as excellent exchanges of sailing ideas and insights sometimes morph into the pissing-contest-of-the-week. I offer for example the recent thread on I17 tuning, which lasted for about a week as an EXCELLENT discussion, but has now turned into the typical wouter-vs-america exchange of meaningless drivel.
I find this frustrating mainly because I waste my time reading through this stuff on the off-chance that there might be something useful buried within.
I'm not writing to ask Rick to create some further level of forum policing. I'm writing to ask all forum posters if there's a way to pre-sort the genuine information from the BS. Because I'm as lazy as the next guy, I recognize that editing the subject line is often too much to ask, but this forum is equipped with the
post icon
function that has at least a dozen options, and I wonder if perhaps one of these could become the unofficially-designated
pure BS
icon. the
wink
maybe?
I realize that I've become that which I loathe by hereby posting something that has NOTHING to do with sailing (If I recognize the hipocracy of my actions, am I still a hipocrite?), but I can't imagine that I'm alone in my frustration
