Hi - I'm trying to enter the cat sailing scene - and therefore trying to figure out what the class scene is for my area. I live in Dallas, so I'm looking for information regarding what the popular classes are in the surrounding areas. Does anyone live in the area who could provide some insight? Thanks!

Locally you have Hobie Fleet 23 - which I think has a mixture of Hobie 20 and Hobie 16 racing. If you don't mind a little travel then Division 6 offers open class catamaran racing, though also with one design as an option in F18 and Hobie 16.

Thanks for the advice. I had already come across Fleet 23 and knew there were probably the best game in town. I just wanted to see if there were any options locally for open class racing. Thanks for the info on div 6 - but your right - that is a bit of a haul!

I think there are some open races at some yacht clubs up there. I think first weekend in May was a Leukemia cup regatta @ DCYC. You might alos check out Grapevine. But it would seem open fleets are mostly south & east of Dallas. You're welcome to come & join Div 6 races anytime.
