VIDEO CAMERA?
I wondered which water-proof video cam we could use to attach to our Nacra 5.8 when sailing? We are contemplating the Digital Hero 3, but (since we don't have a spinnaker pole to attach the camera to) we are wondering where and how to affix the camera.
Does anyone have experience with videotaping a sail, or know how to do it?
I see all types of neat catsailing videos on YouTube, and would like to try it!
Help please!!! <img src=

Search for a talented man named Hakan. You'll find him on this forum and he has done it all.
Hakan's my hero!
He has used a boom off of the rear cross beam to film himself driving an A-cat very well both up and down wind.

If you are going with the digital hero then fixed mounting points make for more usable footage than using it hand held. If you go with a cam corder with some kind of digital image stabilization and a water proof case then it is possible to get some hand held footage if you aren't driving [e.g. this: Three amigos. 45 minutes of drunken footage cut down to 7.
Good luck with your film making!
Chris.

I found a windsurfer mast was very stable and stuck out the front a longway. I attatched the thick end under the front beam and the middle to the front bridle wires on my Stingray. Havn't done it on my 5.8 yet but should work the same. The camera I used wouldn't do both sides of the boat so I just set it to the interesting side with the most reaches and action.

I've mounted mine to the frontbeam of the Tiger a few times.
If you remove the velcro straps you can tie some line to it and wrap that around the beam and tramp.
I also got an old windsurf boom front head clamps about the tip of the spin-pole giving a good rear view.
(Somewhere I have a clip of a bad nosedive, will put it on youtube when i have some time).
