The 2010 Swire Shipping Paper Tiger Catamaran International Championships will be starting tomorrow (2nd April) and will finish on Monday (5th April). They are being held at the Napier Sailing Club, on the north island of New Zealand.
A team of ten Australian boats (plus two additional invitee's boats) have travelled over in a container on a Swire Shipping vessel to compete against a very strong fleet of around 30 Kiwi boats, including the New Zealand Team of ten.
The competition for Overall Champion and also Champion Team promises to be hard fought and very close. You can follow the results on the host club's website at http:/
The Regatta Convenor, Stuart Morrish, and his team in Napier have been working very hard to ensure that this will be an excellent event for all involved.
On behalf of the organisation team and all the sailors (especially those from Australia), I would like to thank Swire Shipping for their very generous support of the event, without which this international competition would not be possible.

I believe it is the Interdominions, not the Internationals as it is not an International class. Nearly exclusively sailed in AUS and NZ but the competition is very hot.
A competition between 2 or more nations would be correctly described as
international
. Pretty sure it's not referred to as a
one day interdominion

Yeah true........ all the years I have been sailing, the PT's refer to their regatta as the Interdominions as do the 12 Foot Skiffs who also have an anual AUS v's NZ Challenge.

Im not in the position to look up the regs. I do know world, national and continental are all classified events so I would be surprised if
International
wasn't.
Just call it
the (insert class here) intergalactic death=match
.
Open the event to all life forms owning/operating that class of boat (the other-worldly beings would pick up the radio waves, but they'd probably be a little late to the event) and you're good, right?

The winner was Ian Marcovitch!! a great friend and very, very good sailmaker.
He has been in the class for many years and come so close to winning on numerous attempts so its fantastic to see him come away with a win this time.
