Yep, that is the predictable reply I meant.

Next time I meet up with Bundock and Ashby I tell them that it was the boat that won their F18, A-cat and Tornado races and not their sailing skills.

Next time I meet Booth and Derksen, I'll ask them about their recent poor sailing skills <img src=

Coming from a hack like you I'm sure their egos will be severely bruised.

Well guys, haven't seen Booth & Dercksen after their race (which started troublesome for them), but at the Hobie-stand in the Pit-Lane we had a laugh, lots of beer and burgers with the wizards from Oz.
So sign in for the next RT on the 23th of june 2007 and lets get that number of boats back to > 600

I'm always conservative in naming the Spitfire boats as F16's in situations like these, because I can guess what kind of reply that will get.

But indeed the Spitfire did very well. It also came in before the A-cats (elapsed time) !

Well done

Wouter

Indeed
From the class rules:
The design and development of the Spitfire catamaran is directed towards strict onedesign
classes where the true test is between sailors and sailing skill, and not boats.

Always stirring the pot huh…

If he had 10 spitfires to race… he would count his results as a one design. But he doesn’t… he is one of a few in a 500 boat race.

How could he possibly have fun without his one design class around him?…

Well.

Now… If he had an additional 10 F16’s to race… he would count his score up to 20 in F16’s

Since he rates about the same as the F18’s… he would certainly count his score up to 200 or so…

And he damn well wants to know how he finished out of the huge fleet on handicap.

But… that’s no different then scoring your self among the Hobie Tigers (presuming you follow the F18 rules on sail and weight) and then out of the F18 class followed by the level rated class (F18 and F16).

Or you could score US built Hobie 16’s and French built Hobie 16’s in the Hobie 16 class.. haven’t you heard… there is a difference between them (grin)… (Still not sure how you score the the Hobie 16 with Spin that the Youth and Women are now racing internationally) (grin)

If people just raced with your one design philosophy … you would not have Texel. Look at texel… they start 500 boats together…. Everyone is racing everyone…. Then they break it down… (hell, you can break it down till you get to the “class” US built Hobie 16’s)

(Some of (edit))The A-Cats are really intimidated by the F-16s aren't they <img src=

I will have a Stealth owner crewing for me next weekend - I am sure we will have fun and a great Event - we are both catamaran sailors <img src=

And some Spitfires are really intimidated by the F18's, Aren't they!! Even with their extra rating points, they find it hard to get the F18's

I think that you missed my point <img src=

alt=

Which is, that some A-Cat sailors are afraid that they will loose sailors from their class to the F16 class. They are so intimidated that they resort to calling other sailors

Hacks

on public forums !

If sailors get upset and intimidated because they cannot win races, then maybe, they should not be racing.
I may be upset if I do not sail well. But not because someone else beat me.

Mate, what are you smoking, Where are

Hacks

? sounds like you have a few issues with them? did they hurt your feelings? or maybe it's because SCHRS is reworking the rule and the extra two free points you have maybe taken away? (Ask Wouter he explained it a while back) <img src=

Mate, I'm not upset, good angle with trying to turn it around, I give you ten points for that one. Yes I did have a problem with SCHRS as did a load of other people, but the good news is that it worked, they are making changes to fix the loop holes. With regards to the A class it's just in the radar at the moment, everybody taking a quick jab at it, a few years back it was us in the F18's, it will be the F16 turn soon ( don't get me wrong, it's a great boat with a great class behind it).

I think Wouter can take care of himself, he's a big boy now!

4th over the line I think, beaten by the M20's and a carbon Eagle 20? Live coverage showed Mitch shrugging while dragging the boat up the beach, like it was happenstance who was first over <img src=

I would actually consider that to be a honour.

Imagine this; sailors bitching about the fact that 16 foot design is rating too slow when sailing off the F18/A-cat rating !

When that happens, I know for sure that the F16 mission has been accomplished ! =)

Booth/Derksen on the Hobie Fox concept were 7th across the line, leading the first F18 of Kenbeek/Brouwer by only 38 seconds after over 4 hours of racing.

In front of them finished

M20
M20
Eagle 20 XXl (This most be the 14th version of this design, I lost track)
M20 GTI (apparently a different version of the M20)
Tornado
Eagle 20 Sk 2006 (version 15 ! Keep counting !)

Yes, you are right Wouter.

I was watching the coverage, and counted Booth/Dereksen as #4. Checking the results, I see that they was indeed seventh across the line. Must be fun having a carbon flyer, and be beaten across the line by a Tornado while F-18s are breathing down your neck <img src=

Was the leaders ever becalmed, letting the boats behind catch up?

Leaders Becalmed too right, we all sat just after VC in a big hole for about 1/2 hour and watched the fleet roll into the back of us then the wind filled in from the texel side, we stayed middleish, the big winners were inshore of us and booth had headed offshore for more breeze and got spanked as he got the new wind last !!
