I am writing to remind you that the Sailor Athlete Advisory Council Election (SAAC) is taking place. This is the only Council at US SAILING that is elected in such a fashion, and I hope that you will participate.

The entire process will be done on line so encourage your friends to register as athletes and sign on. Once the voting begins no new athlete registrations will be accepted. Nominations end 9-24-02. Voting starts 9-30-02 and ends 10-6-02.
If you have ever been frustrated and wanted to help make a change in US SAILING, this is an opportunity to do something.

I am not clear on why people should register as "sailor-athletes." It seems as though the only reason to register is that you want to announce your availability to serve on the Sailor Athlete Advisory Council. So if people do not want to volunteer to serve on this and/or other boards and committees -- and most people probably don't -- is there some other reason to register as a "sailor-athlete"?
