65 boats registered
Totally Chamber of Commerce weather. Blue, sunny skies, 86 degrees F where I'm sitting in the shack on the beach.
First race in progress. Couple boats flipped already. Plenty of safety and mark boats, so they are tending to those boats that aren't pointy end up.
I think I'm going to have to give the regatta keg a quality control test soon.....
Here's a link to a nearby buoy on the oceanside, so it's blowing something less than that on the race course on the bayside.
Lots of flipping, seems there's a lot of
rusty
sailors out this afternoon. Awesome racing, though!
I see somebody getting a tow in to the beach. Will have to find out whazzup with that team and who they are.

Good morning! It's breezy and chilly. forecast to get breezier than it already is. race committee left home earlier this morning to go set the course.
Teams are making their individual calls about whether to rig and push off or watch from the beach.
I'm layering on my winter woolies.
Oh! this just in from race committee: racing will be abandoned at 9am. i gotta get hopping so i can crank out the final results by 10am.
see ya!
whoooo! no racing today, but TONS of prizes and giveaways! everybody was amply rewarded for their best efforts yesterday in the challenging conditions.
It's a wrap for this year and already planning for next year.
Read all about the event in detail when Rick gets his article posted along with the final results.
Thank you to all the sailors who came out to the regatta. Hopefully it lived up to its reputation. You are a great bunch of folks and I'm pretty sure the park is going to welcome the event back again next year.
It was a great party! Lots of food and drink and a new
tradition
for the F16s, but TBack can tell that part.
Thanks to all the organizers, there is just something about being in the Keys. The Beach at Founder's Park is one of the few places in the world where I am content to just chill.
Special thanks to Diane (Mrs. Tback) for all her hostess work. It was a great time.
Yes, much thanks to Diane for the wonderful cooking, and to Mavis (the Chuck's brain) for the clean-up! It was a great time even though Sunday was
Bown Out
.
I always hate to leave the Keys. I think Barb and Chip have figured that part out! Thanks to Rick, Mary, Barb, Chip, and all the guys who gave up racing to man the crash boats, they sure were busy! Great photos by Craig too.
Thanks to all who made it come together.
