Hi Guys -
I've been watching this pretty carefully - it has been changing quite a bit as the low is moving a little erratically. Right now, wind models are looking like a drop to 15 knots by 10 AM Saturday and around 10 knots of off-shore by the end of the day, with a return to the SE (on-shore) breeze on Sunday mid-morning. Sunny and cooler (low 60s) with very high UV index both days. Wind forecast seems to change every three hours or so, and is varying widely.
It'll be the same for everyone... except on Sunday, when the guys on the right side of the shift will make out huge. <img src=

I've gotten to the point where I glance at the weather two days before the regatta, look pretty deep the evening before, and study it that morning. I've yet to see a forecast, with the kind of detail that we are interested in (beyond...say...a hurricane forecast), that had any accuracy at three or four days out.

And that is exactly my point! Forecasts change every 6-8 hours when new data is injested into modeling data. The best, like Jake says, is to look at the forecast hard the night before and tweek it on race morning. Even then you have to be flexible. It is what it is!!! <img src=
