[#29584]

I sneak away to do a little sailing for a couple years and low and behold everyone shows up to steeplechase with F-18's? Todd? Jake? Frank?

What am I supposed to do with all the I-20 parts I've been stockpiling??

Don't worry, Ferb. Probably just a fad. God knows, it ain't the future... anymore.

Larry! <img src="<>/grin.gif" alt="grin" title="grin" height="15" width="15" /> Good to have you back!

For me, it was all the talk about opening up the sail plan which lead to in-fighting and we could see that the one design class just wasn't going to exist any more in any fashion. The F18 is actually a much better boat than it used to be. Faster upwind and equal downwind. There ARE times where I miss that extra 2 feet of bow but it still goes pretty well.

Welcome back Larry! I loved the 20, but the F18 was a much better fit for me to sail with Beth.

Hope to see you soon!

20 was and still is a great boat but the writing was on the wall 3-4 years ago when 20+ F18's showed up at major regattas and on a good day 6 N20's participated. F18's have class-controlled open sails, meaning continual sail development, at the same or cheaper prices than the N20

one-design

sails (which never measured the same twice and no measuring guide was published for the class).

I wanted a larger fleet experience with opportunities for large Nationals and potential for World's, combined with the ability to distance race on occasion. Good thing is most of those N20 parts are the same as the F18 Infusion parts so you should be OK!

Welcome back!! I'm still here. Sometimes I feel like the last one in the room. Still the best boat out there. So I haven't seen a need to move on.

I understand why others moved. I've just moved to follow a fleet too many times. I'm just sticking with the boat I love.

Larry! I'm still rockin the 20. If you have parts, I'll buy them. Been trying to buy all that I can (ask Todd) since our customer support from Nacra sucks on a good day. You need to give me a call dude.

Nice to hear from everyone! Well I still got the 20, actually Brian's got it and amping it up, so i don't think I'll sell the parts yet <img src="<>/smile.gif" alt="smile" title="smile" height="15" width="15" />. Hoping to do Great Texas finally, I know I keep talking about it, but I think this is the year...
more soon...

Good, I was hoping not to be the only 20 racing with the F18's. We'll help with logistics if you need. Maybe you could even get some of the other Florida N20's to come too since the Tybee is gone <img src="<>/frown.gif" alt="frown" title="frown" height="15" width="15" />

well, you still have a few N20s in FL, although some aren't sailing as much as they could...

Forrest
Rick & Teri
Tad
John Fondrik
the flesh rocket
Chip & Barb's green one @ Founders park
Sonneklar still has one or two, right?
I thought Jamie Livingston had one (or access to one), but I haven't seen him in quite a while so....

Jay still has 3 20's I know this because I can borrow a boat and I know I still have 2 back ups, Only needed one so far though!
Jamie doesn't own one, he borrowed the Chip and Barbs for the Tybee
I'm pretty sure Kirk Newkirk and Charlie Trinque both have one too.

jeeze... that puts a sizable fleet of N20s in Florida.

Now if they can just organize amongst themselves to attend the same events....

How about the

new and improved Steeplechase

this December? How much to charter Jay's N20 for two days?

Any idea who owns/sails them and how to get in touch?

I've left notes on trampolines before <img src="<>/smile.gif" alt="smile" title="smile" height="15" width="15" />
