Yesterday was the White or Wheat regatta in Pcola. The courses were W - L with winds of 8kts building to 15kts. Four races were sailed and after a tie breaker, the 14 MAXI rig won! There was to much wind for the reacher up wind but really put on the afterburner going downhill. Trapezing upwind and blasting downwind; WAHOO!! The bigger boats really stretched their legs when the wind came up!

Hey Bob, how did the reacher affect the bow bouyancy? I want to put one on my 17, but I'm afraid that its going to cause the premature death-by-pitchpole of me 😛

I've sailed with a reacher on my 17s years ago and never had the problem because of the longer hull and increased bouyancy. I raced it against a SC22 in a distance race around Anclote Key in west central Florida and won on corrected time. It's a great addition for racing and especially cruising. Obviously, the 14 needs a little bit more attention keeping the bows up.

you wouldn't happen to have a reacher for a 17 laying around that you don't use anymore do ya?
