Hull separating from deck
I have a split along the seam (outter edge of the lip) where the hull and deck are joined. I can actually lift the "lid" from the stern to the aft pylon. If I push on the inside of the bow, I can separate the side of the hull from the deck. Otherwise, the hull and deck seem stiff (not spongy).
Has anyone seen this problem? I was thinking of cutting inspection ports at the bow, midsection and stern, and epoxying.
Are the pylons attached to the underside of the deck, the inside of the hull, or both?
I'm not sure how you will have to fix the problem, but there are photos of the inside of a Hobie hull at thebeachcats.com
Good luck,
Jack
I'd go with this method, but be sure to put a layer or two of fiberglass over the seam to provide strength. Wedge the deck & hulls apart, squirt epoxy inside, then clamp shut and go through the ports to epoxy the fiberglass in place.
Good luck!
