Is there any way to check the age of sails? I have a 1982 H-16 with the sail # 59965. I don't know if this is the original sail or not. It sure doesn't look 20 years old.

my 81 has # 68263 and i think mine may be original and its still in "good" condition. it has a few professional repairs so it seems to have been well-maintained. if your sail has a lower number and your boat is newer i would guess your sail is not original. i hope you get more responses, i would like to know if mine is original too!

My '85 is 85053, and I believe the sails to be original, since they match the hull graphics.

My '82 had sail number 70xxx. My guess is that your sail is not original and a '79 or '80.

Just to add to the sail age discussion, my 1976 sails were 18731. They were the flamer pattern , yellow, gold, orange and red. Photo attached.
