A nice jib traveller

Last time I bought a 49er track from Ronstan it cost $84.

I think the billet this would be machined out of plus the time the machine is tied up would make it difficult to compete.
I have a friend who has almost finished a CNC machine.
Will cut material just a bit smaller than 2500 x1500mm.
Building it in his garage and doing a really professional job of it. I could ask him how long he would expect his machine to cut it when I see him next.

Seems as if the track has stainless rollers on aluminum. How long is that going to last unless the aluminum has been hard anodized? More cost. Hmm, given how high the forces are, I'd expect it not to last awfully long even if it has been anodized. Some kind of plastic rollers seem safer. Maybe you guys can comment on what has held up better in your experience?

It's a beautiful part, but doubtful to be a cost competitive design. Of course, we gearheads will lust after parts like that just the same...

Marstrøm did tracks similar to this solution in carbon fiber.. They also had steel rollers and probably wore out over time, but it was quite nice..

I don't think they are stainless wheels. They look like they could be delrin or something similar?
I've bought cars like that with delrin wheels before.
