Victorian State Titles 2007
Everything ready to go for the long haul south. Should be a very interesting excursion for Ben and myself.
Hoping to get to the club by hopefully around the 2100 friday night if all goes well.
It will be good to finally meet all the victorian sailors we talk to through the forum.
Catch you all with my bath tub on saturday
regards
William
I think I might get there about 6 to 7pm, depending on Melbourne traffic. Forecast looks interesting.
Saturday
East to northeasterly wind to about 10 knots tending northerly at 10 to 15 knots
during the morning then locally reaching 20 knots in the afternoon. A southwest
to southerly change at 20 to 25 knots during the evening. Waves around half a
metre, rising to 1 to 1.5 metres later in the day.
Sunday
Southwesterly winds mainly 20 to 25 knots but locally reaching 30 knots, tending
more southerly during the day then easing to 15 to 20 knots towards evening.
Waves 1 to 2 metres.
Monday
South to southeasterly winds mainly 15 to 20 knots. Waves averaging 1 metre.

Hi all,
Liked to say what an awesum time I had down at somers.
Thanks to everyone for putting on an excellent regatta and for making Ben and myself very welcomed(made us feel like regulars). One last thanks to everyone who gave us a hand in setting up the boats and giving us a few pointers on how to get the boat working well (my boat felt real nice on the third race).
Talked to my wife and it looks like its all systems go in getting a newer boat so hopefully you might see us again at the nats and state titles.
Cheers
William

Will and Ben,
Great to see you at the state titles. <img src=

The full report is listed on the VMCA website

Your vast improvement between race 1 and 2 gave me quite a shock. You should really be able to mix it up with the other cats a Kurnell from now on. Just imagine what you can do with new Mozzies.
Hope you can come back this way next year for the nationals and trust that the trailer held together all the way home.
Regards,
Peter
Hi Pete,
Ive already discussed with the missus about future races in Vic. and its looking like the sauna sail might be the next regatta.
Im thinking I might have holidays then as well just need the regatta dates.
As for the trailor it seemed to hold up well.

William
new mossie here I come
Hi everyone,
Had an excellent weekend, and even very nearly didnt come last in some races! I have some video and far off blurry pictures from the weekend so I will try to get something up soon.
A big positive has come from breaking my rudders on Sunday - I now have permission to get some shiny new 'glass jobbies... Mmmm Boyer rudders... as Homer would say

Trevor,
Sorry I just didn't get a chance to have a good look at
Another Toy
.
With all the activity on the water, on the beach, around the yard and in the Yacht club I just found it too hard to get a good look around for good ideas.
That's why we need a training weekend like the one last September at Hazelwood. That way we can think up all sorts of new ideas and toss them around.
Regards,
Peter

Will,
I expect that the results will be on the VMCA website soon.
I have a paper copy of the overall result scores that I got from the Yacht Club. I believe that all the details with race times should be posted soon.
As for photos, maybe someone from Somers has some good images. I'll check it out this weekend.
Regards,
Peter
Thanks Peter,
Got my boat stripped with new rudder stocks getting made, daggerboards get shrunk, skinner and lighter, light glass on the decks for a little bit more strenght and a new coat of paint.
Hopefully next time we race together we can have a few decent races.
You going to sauna sail this year, Confirmed my holidays so I might stay down for a little bit longer, Will be good to get some tips on rigging for the new boat, might even go sloop rig some time.
Cheers
William
It was a great weekends racing, the large, competitive fleet provided some very close but friendly racing which highlighted a couple of areas which I need to work on, a valuable experience, I am looking forward to the next time we all race.
Thanks to the the Victorian Mosquito Assiociation for organising a great event and the Somers Yacht Club for running it.

Pete,
Welcome aboard. I didn't realise it was Pete from Loch Sport until I read your latest post.
I'd like to get a copy of the CD then we can put it on a slideshow at the yacht club. Are there lots of shots of Mozzies on the beach ?
Regards,
Peter

Pete,
Yes there are races on both Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday race is a normal club race which starts at 2:30 pm. Lunch can be ordered from the kitchen as usual.
Jeremy and Brian are only separated by a couple of points for the championship series and this race may be crucial to the outcome.
Hope to see you at Somers.
Regards,
Peter
