Broker rudder assembly
It was bound to happen...sailing in shallow waters and the rudder assembly broke (not sure what you call this part). Pictures attached.
1. Does anyone know if Mystere still sells spare parts and where they can be reached?
2. Maybe someone has this part laying around and you're willing to sell?
3. What about welding?
Thanks!
Thomas
I just broke a rudder assembly today in a slightly different location and was reading this on the forum and wondering what you did for a repair. Im wondering if I should switch to another manufacturers rudder assembly and try to adapt it, or have something machined up? My model is a mystere 5.5 any thougts that someone can suggest would be helpful!
Thomas sorry I did not see it sooner but your casting can be repaired ,for some eason I could not download te picture until tonight.I have seen a lot worse on the NACRA 6.0 CASTINGS AS FAR AS DAMAGE GOES. Guess what it probably will not ever break in the same place ever again once a qualified TIG welder gets ahold of it. GD.....LuckP.S the 6.0 is a great design after the formula 40's Nacra got skeered and dropped the bow foil in there design because they were cracking hulls this also let them set up a larger jib but a well sailed M6.0 still is in the mix with todays designs...so everybody has some problem or another
Good news! I just ordered a new upper casting for my rudder on 5.5 from Yeves sailing school. It cost 135.00 ca plus shipping and comes with the aluminum tiller tube. They were quite helpfull, but you have to be a bit patient with communication. I emailed them as well and they responded within a day. You may want to call them? Broken rudders are 350.00 canadian.
