Hi Everyone, I'm looking for some advice on a spin
Hi All,
I'm looking to put a spin on my Mystere 5.5Xl.
Does anyone have any upclose pictures and advice they
could share.
Here's my 2 options.
1. A factory job, which would be done right, but at a big expense. or
2. Me .... But I need some advice (please) on the best set up etc.
Please give me your thoughts on a home made setup vs a factory install.
Thanks
Steve
PS. Thanks Rick for making this forum possible.
Hi DSYC (?)
Well, I haven't found too much via the factory.
I think there in winter mode or something.
But, I have gotten a couple of good suggestions via
the Yahoo Beachcat group (including making my own).
Anyway, thanks for the touch back. Please let me know
if you see any spin's online (I've been looking but
I think I'm off on the season thing).
Cheers
Steve
Bob,
My apologize on the DSYC thing, you're
probably like me (kind of using a common
company account to login in with).
Anyway, I feel like a bit of a cad, sorry for not checking
your name in the other emails first.
Again, thanks about the spin, AND if you see anything
I'd REALLY appreciate it.
My Best Regards
Steve (or sr072896 as I'm known at work).
Cheers
I've wanted to add a spin to my M5.0XL for a long time. I want a modern cut, mid-pole snuffed rig, and I want it really, really cheap (read "used"). I wrote to every cat forum and emailed guys from South Africa, Singapore, Australia and Sweden. I got lots of advice, offers on older big-bellies, several too big rigs, and more advice... no luck. None of the F16 people are ready to part with spins or hoops. F18 spins are too big for me (might work for you on a 5.5).
Here's the best deal I've found. AHPC (the Taipan folks) will sell a spin for about $825 AUS and the hoop and sock for $350 or so. HOWEVER, the exchange rate is about 75 US cents buying an AUS dollar so...do the math. Pretty cheap for new stuff and great designs, I hear. Shipping on the pole is huge so use a Sunfish spar for the pole and the hoop will fit perfectly. Cut it any length you like. All of this fits in a small box so shipping from OZ is pretty cheap as well. I've been picking up blocks from EBay cheap for over a year (how about a pair of new Carbo Ratchomatic for $25!).
OK, now I need a grand to do the whole deal. The wifely unit pauses, thinks and says (again)..."Are you NUTS?"
Santa, oh SANTA!!! I been good...really!
