Hi All,

Well my id on this group is sr072896 (call me Steve).

Anyway, I've got 4 kids, 2 of which are right in line for getting
their sanction for the Canadain Yatch Association for the Instructors
rating (in the next year or two, there're 13 and 14 - but are there).

In Canada, we need to certify on either a Laser II or 470/420 for
the CYA. -- Wish they could do this on my Mystere 5.5Xl it'd be alot
cheaper. Why am I doing this is simple For a 15yr old this is about $
15/hr 40 hrs a week for teaching -which kinda beats raking leaves, or
working at a checkout.

So here goes. I'm at work, while at lunch with the Managers of our
Procurement deptartment (who sail's big time), who says that her Dad has her old 470 up for sale.

Wow, except unless it has 2 hulls, I'm lost.

Any idea on what would be a good price for a 15 to 20 yr old 470 would be.

Again sorry to cross reference group's, but it's Christmas and I need
some advice before I spring this on my wife (God forbid she's still
miffed on my 2nd mortage on the house for my cat).

Cheers (And Thanks Steve from Mtl Canada).

PS The Mystere has been one of those life things - Fun with
all the kids (25knts+ === worth every cent for the memories).

Steve all you can do is the usual inspection and compare to what has been sold around you for model year condition and so on.On E-bay for instance there is a Alpha-One for around 350.00 (for now).Is there great demand for boat of choice. What ever you do just do not buy it without seeing it first and what comes with the price.Do your homework on how its supposed to be rigged and how the seller is rigging it.That class of boat has few options so long as it looks like 470 or 420 or a laserll then it has worth. Keep it in good condition and you will more than likely recoup some or all of your investement when your son moves on and his brother and their sister and the dog and parrot..... Your boss is not Yves San Soucy by chance ? If so invite him here for un parle'avec ons.I would like to learn more about the mystery about Mystere. A' bientot ...Bob G. M6.0

As far as my French knowledge goes, "San Soucy" sounds pretty close to "Sans Soucis", which means "Without worries". Clearly.

Should give you a good idea on pricing. Also look at NADA, boats, Vanguard, club or international 470.

Hi Bob + et al

Thanks for the advice on the 470. I'll talk with
my procurement manager tomorrow and use about $500
as a rough cost to start with.

Do I work for Yves, No I work for Bombardier AeroSpace
I wish I had a chance to apply 1/10 of the new high
tech stuff I use at work to sailing,

Anyway Thanks, and merry X-Mas.

Steve
