[#16785]

Does anyone know of a Mystere 5.5 for sale? Pretty rare birds down here in Florida but we have 2 on our beach and I've tried to track down another that moved over to Ft. Lauderdale. No luck yet. Does anyone know of any...anywhere?

There's a bottle of Wild Turkey for somebody who can provide the right lead!

There are two here in Delray one with spi package but not for sale as far as I know. Why not just go 6.0 or are you going to make an F18 out of it?

Solo...I sail solo 99% of the time. Do you have a name or phone # that goes with those boats?

Hi David,

Wild Turkey, to find you a boat.

Sound's like a pretty good deal.

Anyway, here's two site's that hopefully will
help you out. Except both are in Canada.

Actually this may not be to bad (except for the
snow, and distance to Fla).

1. The prices are in Cdn (at 72 cents to the US,
your looking at a good deal. PS I'm told you
have no custom's cost).

2. A side from the French Ad's (use bablefish).
This sailing school is about 5 miles from the
factory (so extra stuff should not be an issue).

Anyway, hope this helps out.

Regards

Steve Rompala

I found the missing Dunedin boat. It did not leave town, it just disappeared into someone's back yard. This guy only used it to skin dive from and it hasn't been used in 2 years. Will he sell it? NO!

What a waste of a good boat.

These two over here are not going to part with them either. Sometimes you have to catch them on a whim and make an offer they cannot refuse.

Dave, I have a buyer for your 5.0 when your ready. I'll tell you who it is for a small price. A Capt. Morgan product will do fine!

Great! I may have a buyer, too, but contingency sales are so hard to pull off.

I am going to call the guy who won't sell his M5.5 and offer to buy his boat now for cash and grant him one year of sailing rights. He only sails occasionally, in light air and warm weather, and only to to go spear fishing. He will get use of all of my upgrades (new tramp, sheets, stays, etc...) that keep him from using it now. Plus I'll store it right near the beach is sail-ready condition.

It sounds like a great deal to me. What can I do to convince him to let that fine boat out of dead storage? Maybe a bottle of Cap'n Morgan for him, too!

Anyway, Mike, I hope to get a good price for my boat since it is a proven race 2005 winner. MiniMacho, Union, and Hangover Regattas (all B fleet stuff, folks...DPN<70).

Is that a 5,0 with spin as that number seems hard to work for you at 70.0 for a stock boat.

No, I screwed up the post. I meant to say that I race my M 5.0XL solo at DPN 73.3(sloop/L4) in a fleet of boats whose DPN are about >70 (B fleet). I don't use a spin although I have planned to add one for about...well, years. The wifely unit says, "no $$$ for you!" The 5.0XL solo with spin and jib would be DPN 70.4 (sloop, L4, SP) but I'd have to sail with the big dogs in the separate spin fleet. I'd love that.

Our B fleet is an active group of solo guys, all on 16-18 foot boardless boats racing distance races only. It's hard to get anyone to race buoys here. I guess ours is an odd sailing culture, given the dominance of board boats and triangle racers on most of these Catsailor forums. But with year round warm conditions, lots of little sandy islands, and a cool Bud in hand, why sail in little circles?
You can check out photos and race results at TBCSI

Amen. Nice to see you show up on I-4 the other night. Not sure how long I lasted after you showed up. We got out there Thursday eve and partied to about 3am every night. Hopefully you were spared the "STACKING". If not the pic's will show up somewhere. I have a long list of people to get even with.

I sailed some Saturday night in shorts and a long sleeve shirt. January!!

David,
If you really want to do some bouy racing they usually have races at GYC every other week. they get a good mix of boats, from A-cats, Taipans, to H16's. It's only about a 30 min trip from Dunedin down to Gulfport if you take I275 to 22ave S.
On another note I finally got the Taipan 5.7 up here this weekend. I still need a trailer and need to replace a few lines but I am planning on a lot of sailing this year. I'll tell you, that 33 ft wingmast is huge!... and heavy!

Is the wingmast as huge as a Supercats or "Huger"? Congrats on your great choice.P.S the 98' worrell video sold here live at the catsailor store shows the T5.7 campaigning its way up the coast. Also is the Almighty Mystere 6.0 Vs. Nacra 6.0 in the 97' 98' campaignes great stuff to see big spinakers in alot of air.Good footage of the G-Cat 21 and Dart Hawk in the mix too. I know they were talking about rudder probs back then but they still kept sailing so to what degree is really not shown about the "misteer issue" in the film. I did see someone try to put a centreboard gasket on in about two minutes with contact cement.Probably shoud've just spit on it in place.....

My mistake, the mast is actually 31'3".
The mast dimensions are 160 x 74 mm
the mast accounts for 1.9 sq meters of sail area.
Holding the unsupported mast up while lowering it you can definetely feel the wind take a hold of it.

Bob,
Does that video have POMODORO in it? I might have to get it if my boat is in it.

And I know we hear about how bad the rudder castings
were. A problem easily fixed by changing the springs and kicking the rudders under the boat a little more. I had the same problems with my old style H-18.
