The new Mystere International . . .
Has anyone else seen the new Mystere website:
I'm not sure how much stock they have in catamarans any longer (at least the 20ft and under flavor), but they have launched some pretty aggressive ventures. Everyting from body armor to airplane ****. I will say that they have a pretty cool video of their F40 catamaran:
They've obviously become a more materials-science kind of company, using their carbon fiber skills to make some pretty cool things. I wasn't aware they had such an interest. I always thought it was catamarans and snowmobiles.
Not sure what to make of it. Is Yves still running the show there?
Mike
So I don't get it either! Has this still something to do with Mystere Canada. The logo is being used. Oh wait till the new Formula's start peeling off out of their factory O'La La!! Vivre Mystere nation. Great video that guy must be 30ft from the leeward hull. Are these the same F40 boats that the M6.0 was copied from ?
I'm pretty sure it's the same Mystere . . if you attempt to go to the old website
It takes you to the site I previously sent.
I'm guessing Yves has teamed up with some serious invostors or has gone public or has sold the company.
It seems to be such a radical departure for them.
I don't know the details, but I think that all or part of the operation has been sold to a French firm.. It could be only the catamaran part of the business..not sure.. I am not sure how many new cats are being sold, but I think the number is going down quite a bit, at least in NA.
Hi All,
Tell you what. I'm supposed to meetwith Yves next upcoming
Friday(at the new factory). And yes, they've been sold.
But Yves has told me that this is actually kinda good
because they want to get back at the F-18 market with some
of the spin-off technology they've been doing.... we'll see.
Anyway if your interested I'll let you know how it
goes.
Best Regards

That should be good. If there is one thing the French are good at, it's multihulls (other than wine, cheese and strikes of course).
I wonder though what their plan is to keep on servicing existing customers...many of us haven't been thrilled lately by the level of responsiveness...are they going to get that back on track?
th
That video footage is from the movie "The Thomas Crown Affair" with Pierce Brosnan who is sailing the boat with the racks. It was shot in Rowayton, CT... several cat sailors (Randy Smyth, Rick Bliss, and others) were involved. Just after the video phases out, the movie shows the boat capsizing at which point the film crew was supposed to pull a float under the mast and did not get there in time and the rig was basically a total loss as the water out there is only about 20 feet deep. There were comments about this scene in this movie on the forum a few years ago. Most of the chat was about the exaggeration in the price of the boat mentioned in the movie and that the racks on the boat Brosnan was on were never used in F40 racing.
I'm not saying this wasn't built by mystere, I have no idea but that's what this footage is from.

Good Agent sr803287u3fop7 everything is going as I have it planned first : Acquire global notoriety through CatSailor.com. Second intercept the chief of Mystere through a French/Can. liason. Third drive all the remaining Pygmy Marmosette F18 drivers to sell there present craft and remortgage their homes for the new F18 and one half plus 2 class that will control the rest of the civilized world. Tell Yves to give me a shout when he can, we will go over the finer details. Hm HMMHMM HMMheh heh heh heh! thanks............ Bob G.

Just wondering if you have any info for us yet Steve?
Abc's of Mystere
I've been a mystere client for 3 years and haven't stopped getting negative comebacks on resent or older mysteres that breakdown. Even if you live in the Montreal area and think that a local product is a good deal, think again! mystere boats is only their sideline product. You can’t even get reasonable service even if you have you boat in point-Calumet. They hirer unqualified labour to build their boats and hopefully you’ll a decent boat by the end of building season. Mystere Cat’s are lake boats that perform well on light winds with oversized sails. The decks pop and the rudders break under reasonable conditions. I’m sorry to bust your bubble guys but I think you should sell your boats while they still have a certain value. By the whey, mystere is building a f-40 witch I hade the pleasure of seeing in their old shop 2 years ago and is still in construction… The boat was inspired by the Thomas crown affaire movie! That’s all they never had one afloat yet. It's just a movie !!!
Good luck to you guys and mystere!!!
Good luck to you guys and mystere!!!
huh?
you are not bursting anyone's bubble here, friend. I think all the people on this forum are very well aware of the weaknesses and strengths of the mystere cats.
But yes, I am also frustrated with their level of service. I've told Yves that he should really read this forum and find out what people are saying...This is the place people come to get advice when buying a new boat...If past behavior is a predictor for future behavior, I wouldn't recommend anyone buying a Mystere, even if they start making the best F18 in the world.

Yves Soucy......... You know he reads this forum! Just like anything on this earth worth saving,is worth fighting for. You ever owned a Triumph Spitfire or a Alfa or a Pinto or a Renault,I could generalize and say they are all a POS but there are always exceptions to the rule that keep people interested in them past and present. There is not a design out there that's bullet proof somebody will always find a weakness . If Mystere made the best, fastest all around F-18 in the world people would be in line to get it.Regardless of how poor the service is
People may buy them all they want. I just said I would never recommend it. Don't come whine when your boat is out of commission for months because you can't get parts or prices.
Really? Well if that is the case, he'd be more than welcome to shed some light on some of the conversations here.
And yes...I actually owned a Renault 5 - and it was a pretty fun car in fact
What is everybody talking about? When I want to order a part, I simply call the factory and speak to Yves. The part is overnighted and personally delivered by Yves.
Never had a problem with deck seperating either. I could probably lift the boat by the footstraps if they were attached to the rear decks instead of the hull itself.
I think you're full of it, I don't know anybody who has had that kind of service at Mystere... Are you sure you’re not talking about the Nacra's service! Remember that all Mystere's come equipped with standard factory installed ejectable decks. It’s an option at other cat companies. I find that Nacra builds the best boats for the money in America, and their service is incomparable.
Good night to all
Man I’m sure you still believe in Santa Clause!!! Are you under aged??? I’ve visited the factory several times and all I’ve ever seen is an unfinished f-40 and a whole bunch of broken cat’s next to a garbage container. Tell me, are you aware of how many boats were built last year? Below 2 ! . Boats are a side line that’s all kid. Nacra’s are built by professionals in a state of the art factory. They gather information and develop best products available. I think they will always be 100 miles ahead of other boat builders because they listen to their clients concerns.
Well that will do it for me then! Anybody got a match and some diesel fuel? Rick you might as well shut this forum down because were all selling out ASAP. Sumaguma do you actually own a Mystere now or are you in the Nacra camp cause I'm confused and your scaring me........
Your not that new high powered salesman Yves hired, are you . love this new sales campaigne .. My boat is still ticking like a bomb......................
OK, I'm in the "no communication" camp. Last fall I wrote to Mystere 5 times and got 2 answers, VERY brief. They told me in one that the price of an upper casting had tripled from their last price list and the new tripled price was also in USD, not CAN like before.
Let's test them! Each of you email a request asking for price and availablity of a part, any part. Report back on your interaction. Ask for a complete price list while you're at it. My prediction? No reply to any of us. I hope I am wrong.
Doesn't Mystere sell most of its boats in Europe?
We had a Mystere 6.0 for a while back in, I think, the early 1990's, and at that time the factory had an English-speaking person in charge that we could talk to about problems and to order things. As I recall, Yves himself does not speak English well, which may explain why he does not respond to complaints on this forum (if he actually does read this forum).
Well was it somebody other than R. Daniel that brought the boats into the US. I personally as yet do not have a lot of the affected inherant problems with my boat because of the previous owner efforts. He sealed the mast head and changed out the rudder system to the Taipan style.Other than that the only thing failing on my 93' 6.0 is the paint job the boat is tight and I have gotten myself on and off the "BEACH" in many quirky weather conditions I am by no means an expert sailor but I think that boat has covered many countless mistakes I have made going in and out through the "SURF".And I will go so far to say that the turning point in popularity for the 6.0 in the US. was the Alter CUP .Even though I was not there it would be interesting to know why the M6.0 faded in popularity. OCEAN tested , I think Gary Friesen has qualified the boat a few times unless he computor generated his trips he was out in all kinds of weather. There is obviously a problem with the service end of Mystere but not enough to sell out.
No, it wasn't Robbie. It was some guy with an English accent who was working at the factory. But, as I say, that was at least 15 years ago.
Maybe part of the reason for the decline of the Mystere in the U.S. was that Robbie became so heavily involved in campaigning for the Olympics. I have never heard anything about a new U.S. distributor taking over. Have you?
Only one attempt I read of was in the Syracuse NY area back in the early 90's both boats were sold years later. would of could of have been to that japanese guy? And the reason you do not hear other boat brand owners complain about boat part availability probably is because of the used market and the one part used on a few models making scalvenging popular. Nacra ,Prindle, and some hobie parts. Every boat will soon have it's turn here , Mystere just happens to be first on the docket oh well.
Interesting, I've had my boat since 01 it's an 97. I can't say that I've needed a single part for my boat that I couldn't find locally. I've not owned a boat that needed less work to enjoy and anyone who knows me knows how much and how hard I use that boat.
It's fast, dry and carries weight well. Lake boat???
That is a very artistic picture Mike. It looks real good.
Here is one that you may all really get a kick out of. Let me set the scene here. No nevermind, you can read the article. Here is a link to a picture of the article. You might have to blow it up so that you can read the font.
Potato Patch description
We were loaded up with about 200 pounds of gear. We were surfing down very steep waves and moving about 15 knots. The bow was depressed and the water shows a bow shaped plunge wake. The crossbar is burried and the water shooting up through the trampoline corner is hitting as high as the boom.
