Water in the hulls w/o sailing
It seems that I am getting water in the hulls while my 6.0 is stored on the beach or on the trailer. It must the rain water coming in, since it's just too much to result from condensation. Where would it come in? Someone told me it may be the seal of the decks that's not sealing anymore. Any ideas?
Do you leave the plugs loose and does the boat lean forward especially on the beach. Could also be in the bridal and stay hull tang ,could be the throughbolts for the beams as it collects on the saddles how much water? A quart, gallon! Then it could be what you said. Not really good to let it sit in there as you could develop Glycol blisters.Later Bob G.
We are talking a half gallon over the course of several weeks with rain. Boat is kept flat. And drainplugs are open
I had the same problem. I finally got brave enough to taste the bilge water and it was FRESH water, i.e., rainwater. I used silicone glop to fill all of the rivet holes in the track along the deck, the one that carries the fore and aft slider for the 4-way jib wire. That's LOTS of little holes. That fixed the leak and Cipro fixed my stomach from the filthy water I tasted.
That still is not a major concern,it's the half gallon when you are on the water for several minutes that I would worry about turn the hose on it and look in the inspection port for water collecting and take it from there could be through the drain plug if left open....Success jonge'
I had the same thing and based on the fact that both hulls about about the same amount of water, I reasoned it had to be condensation or leaky port covers. I had fears I had massive leaks after noticing some hairline fractures in the gel coat. one of my sailing cohorts suggested the following (a page taken from gas-line installers, no doubt).
lather up the hulls in a soapy misture and apply gentle positive pressure to the hulls (the output of a vacuum cleaner would probably be sufficient .. if your vacuum cleaner has that sort of feature).
I never tried it, but it seemed like an easy way to find any problems. I suppose you could also use an air compressor (though if you put too much pressure, I'm sure you could cause some serious damage).
good luck with it all.
