[#13147]

I have made the changes into the Constitution that I think might work. The strike-thru is stuff to be eliminated and the red is new stuff.
Basically, the idea is to get Individual Memberships and also get Fleet, Assoc. et al, enlisted as Chapter at $50 per year as well. We need to encourage one-design fleets to sign up as well (sick of hearing that Hobie is the only one that knows what one-design is)

Most of it is related to that. I have some new volunteers that are willing to jump in. Couple from the Shark Fleet and someone from CABB. Need to get the pump primed again.

Check out the changes at http://www.catsailor.com/namsa/namsa_const_proposed.html

Hi Rick,

OK...accuse me of not reading the Constitution, but I've been signing up people and renewing memberships for 1 year from the date I receive the check (i.e. staggered expiration/renewal dates). Should we change the Constitution to reflect this or change my evil ways?

Well,
I thought they were for the year. The Constitution states: 'c. Membership is for one (1) fiscal year (Jan 1-Dec. 31)."
So, we don't have to change the Constitution.., just your EVIL ways!

Agreed - Bob, if we had 400 members, it would be just about impossible to remind people that their memberships are about up. Not to mention just keeping up with who's membership is active at any given moment. I think it should really stay a set activity date as stated in the by-laws.

No problem...I'll comply with the Constitution. Although, I've grouped the members by month, so reminders about expiration have been a cinch

Hey Rick....all this crap with NAHCA has me thinking. While we're looking at they by-laws, can we put in a time limit on the membership quorum?...something like

Quorum: Shall consist of at least 50 percent of paid membership including absentee ballots and proxy votes or if after 30 days 50% of the membership has not voted the existing votes will be recorded and ruled upon.

I'm not real wordy at the moment but I mean for this to mean that we contact the membership with a vote form in any fashion. We have to have at least 50% reply for the vote to count OR if the quorum is not met, 30 days after the membership has been contacted we count the votes that we have received and make a ruling based on this.

Good point!
Actually, we should just be able to mail out a ballot to each member with a "submit by date" and count the votes.

After reading that some group only got a 2% response to a vote sort of scares ya, huh?

Bob-

When did you send out invoices? I don't remember seeing one.

Also have you considered PayPal?

Thom,

If you can hold off until after the meeting on the 18th, we may have a deal for you. $20 will get you membership plus Cat Sailor Magazine. However, this needs to be approved by the membership at the meeting on the 18th. If you can't wait, $10 will renew you for another year. You can send it to me at:

7131 Sand Crest View
Colorado Springs, CO 80918

Thanks!
Bob
