Anyone get an F17 with a jib? I got a blurry photo to show how it goes together but does anyone have some better photos? Specifically the tack and how it attaches to the pole?

Have a look for the results on the above page. Pictures are not available unfortunately but maybe will follow. The French crew convincingly over the other boats and proves that the Nacra F17 sloop is a real quick and perfect Nacra. In the big 104 test that was held in February 2008 Voile & Voiliers ( Biggest French magazine) already called the Nacra F17 sloop the best boat of all the 104 types. Great news we thought that we like to share with you!
Now the big question remains, Will the 104 class grow bigger the next five years and will the targeted public recognize the potential of this concept. These boats are made for crews between 110 kgs and 140 kgs which are to light for F18 boats to really compete! We think that this class is complementary to the F18 and is not steeling any potential customers from it! So if you are try to decide between a F18 or 104 and you weigh between 110 kgs and 140 kgs? Just get the Nacra F17 Sloop!

1)If I removed the jib from a F17 sloop would it be a class legal F17? or are F17 & F17 sloops going to be one class?

The answer to your question is yes, drop the jib and you have a class legal F17! The only problem that I see is if you weigh less than 215lbs the spin size will be too big. As it stands right now, the class rules are only written for the unirig, http:/
There is a saving grace here. I'm sure there are a few guys who would let you borrow a class unirig chute for some races. If you are planning on joining us at the NAs, drop me an email and you can gladly use one of mine. The sloop rig comes with the larger chute because there is a bit more weight (crew) to pull around!
Nacra Europe is involved in the promotion and development of the F104 class which is sloop w/crew only. Over there, there are quite a few manufacturers with boats that rate 1.04.

I started researching for a new catamaran last summer. In early fall, I whittled down by choices to F16 Blade, Nacra F17, & Hobie FX One. I received the pricing on each model from Dealers or Manufactures by mid October. The first one eliminated was the FX One strictly due to price. I was leaning towards the F17, partially do to the price, it was over three big ones cheaper last fall. Do you know how many F17 Sloops are in North America?
As for interest levels in the F1.04 Class, approximately thirty cats were at the French F104 Nationals. Not bad for a new Class, sounds like a smaller version of the F18 class.
