The early Nacra needs a long pin inserted from underneath to hand the rudders. I hate it. Was contempltating getting new modern gudgeon with integral pins. Has anyone done this yet? TIA

Last month our 1991 Prindle 18-2 had one of the bolts securing our starboard lower gudgeon pull out.  It sounds like the same pin assembly. We installed an inspection port to access the hull interior and found it to be in poor condition. I fabricated a larger 1/8" aluminum plate for a backer spanning both bolt holes, then reassembled the original system. Do you have access to the hull interiors? Have you inspected them? If yes, and the hulls and original hardware are in good condition that will make the project easier.

I’ve done exactly this converting a Hobie 21 to the new NACRA setup. Only difference is I welded pins onto the original gudgeons to copy the Nacra ones.  Used the Nacra springs. Worked fantastically and had zero issues…
