[#20241]

I recently tore the leech of my sail when a trap line got hooked behind it (switching to synthetic trap lines soon which may help to prevent that problem) so I have not had my main for a little bit. Brings up the issue of needing at least an extra main. You can sail without the jib or spin but obviously need a main... SOOO..
Send me a PM or put it here... if you were to get new sails who would you get them from? The main I have now is Ullman which seems nice (although I HATE big windows because that is what goes first) but I am interested in others opinions. I know the Alter Cup sails were Glaser.
Along the same line- when I requested a quote from Ullman I got a quote from Ullman in California AND Ullman in Florida. Is there any difference there? (except price because one was more expensive).

My Ullman seems awfully full. Dunno, ive been messing with the mast prebend to alleviate the issue.

If I were to buy a main today I think I would want a Glaser main.

Thanks dude... Glaser seems like a good option (least expensive as well).
Any other suggestions?

The fast sails in the UK seem to be Landenberger....

I’ve found it’s better to pay a little more up front when you consider the potential hassle and added expense involved with shipping back and forth over faulty workmanship or just ending up with an inferior F16 main that you are not happy with.

If it were me I’d cut the chase and go with a Goodall or Ashby main. <img src=

I have an Ashby main and Goodall main--great workmanship. I've handled and sailed against a Glaser main--every bit as good.

I have P19 sails made by Ullman when Jay worked there. It was nice being able to easily get Jay on the phone to answer detailed questions regarding the sails and boat handling. I think it's a plus having easy acess to the person who made the sails.

I’ve no experience with the P19 main sail but the F16 is fairly cutting edge. What I personally appreciate is no need for phone calls over goof ups! <img src=
