Hey,
I have all of the equipment for a kite kit for 5.2 but i have yet to put it together. My hold up has been the furthest rigging towards the bow... the way i see it done mainly is by drilling through the hulls and trying to reinforce that with resin. I was wondering if anyone had any less labor intensive ideas, maybe attaching hardware to the hulls?

any ideas would be great, thanks!!

That's probably the cleanest...but drill through the bows, glue in a piece of fiberglass or carbon tubing, and trim it/sand it to perfection is easier.

couldn't be much easier than that... shouldn't take more than an hour or 2...

couldn't be much easier than that... shouldn't take more than an hour or 2, and shouldn't hold up the sheer joy of flying a spin

The spin you're planning to use -- what size is it? what was it originally cut for? How long's the pole?

My boat w/out re-enforcement most likely wouldn't hold up TO the sheer joy of flying a spin..

I don't have holes in my bows I have dyneema line running from my bridal tangs to the end of the pole and another dyneema line running from the bridal tang straight across the boat to the other tang attaching to the pole in the middle. Just do the two shackles up at the bridal tangs then tighten the line under the jib bridal until your happy with the bend.

Jeff that is really what i was hoping to do, but i am glad someone else did it so i could see that it would work....

Yurdle, i have an old tornado kite that is waaay oversize but plan on significantly cutting it down once i have an idea of the size it should be.

which i guess brings up the question... anybody have approximate luff and foot lengths for a kite?

Thanks for all the help already

My setup is the same as JeffS on my 5.2. No need to drill anything.

I use a F16 spi.

Because of the intricate nature of the paneling in a spinnaker, it's not easy to cut down the size of one and have it work well...

I drilled the bow's on my 5.2. The lines going back to the bridal mounts worked but it felt alot more secure with the bow lines in. I ran a F17 kite and endpole set-up and it worked great.
