I got this little ugly doll that was in a gift basket raffled off at the Wayward Winds last year. No body wanted her cause she was so ugly, I felt bad and tied her to my spinn pole so she wouldn't get left behind. Now she is a regatta favorite around here. Some of the guys did a little art work on her and made her anotomicaly correct. Attached is a photo of her leading us throught the surf in the GT300.

I wonder if Alex still has Dolly from the 20 NAs in Tampa...

I think Dolly got passed to Greg Thomas... that's where we lost track of her. <img src=

Hey Todd - along the same lines as your huggie:

Also, Matt - great idea to get Hobie Sr. to sign that trophy! I really wish I'd thought of that! The Tiger trophies were more attractive. <img src=

Not a competition to one up each other - I'm genuinely interested to see the stuff everyone keeps.

I am told that Nigel or Alex were the last seen or heard in position with Dolly.

Baaaahhhh.

Greg doesn't have her.

Scares me that we remember this so well. Let's just be thankful there are no pictures...

Don't have the belt buckle, but I was at the Jr. NA's before that event. Got the koozie, hat, check and team shirts from the 03' Worrell. But better than that, not only do I have Dolly, but I got her signed by the man, Hobie Alter Sr., the night I won her!

I think maybe I'm afraid to inquire about the story behind

Dolly

. Mike, I had one of those treasured

PU

hats. John Smith owed me a hat, and gave me his because it was too small! I lost it in Boston despite putting my name and number in it.

Nice! I bet you don't have one of these - remember what we did the day we had no breeze? <img src=

Hobie has one serious sense of humor! Dolly signed by him has to be priceless!

The real question is, is that a current picture? Does Dolly still hold air?

Brian, the

official

version is that the regatta leader at the end of each day at the Hobie 20 NAs in Tampa was

awarded

Dolly and had to fly her from the mast. Well, I don't know for sure that it wasn't placed on the boat for you, or any other things that might have been done with Dolly. I was on the signal boat all week, and don't recall seeing Dolly on the water, so it truly was a nocturnal thing...

Alright, I was nowhere near this event; I was around 5 years old, but here it is. Proudly hanging in my shop is a 1979 H14 Nats shirt.

It was given to me by Kirk Jefferies of Inland Sailing just before he died.

finally got a picture of it....though it's not quite memorabilia...it's close.

A catamaran/sailing stamp collection that my wife put together for my birthday a few years ago. She spent over a year collecting stamps from around the world for this project on Ebay. The background is a piece of one of my old Hobie 18 jibs.

Hi-res version HERE. Sorry about the quality of photo, my work camera is mediocre.

Well, that is extremely cool, for many, many reasons.

My only question is, why wasn't there (or has there been) any Hobie Cats on US stamps? The company started in California!!!

no doubt - there's a stamp on there from Libya for heaven's sake. My favorite is the Moscow Olympics Tornado commemorative stamp issued in 1978.

I'm not using any trophies, or regatta T-shirts, but,

I was paying for breakfast in South Padre before the start of 'Ruff Rider Regatta' a few years ago, glanced at the sailboats on the refrigerator magnets board next to the cash register and,
My Nacra 6.0 was on it, along with 2 H16's, sitting on the beach from the year before. Yea, I bought 3 of them.

And,

I have a windbreaker, I had made out of my old Dacron P 18-2 sail. The huge P smaller 18-2 emblem from the sail is on the back.

Sorry, at work, no pics.
