Hi everybody!

I am new here. I have an old H16 in Italy (wind seldom over 10-15 knots where I sail) and am trying to figure out my options for a spinnaker. So I have several questions:

1- Does a spinnaker put too much stress on mast, shrouds etc? does anybody knows of mishaps?

2. I understand that there are three different spinnakers available: the trapseat symmetrical; the official hobie asymmetrical (which, I read in this forum is a bit of a joke..); and an european asimmetrical version. Does anybody know the measures (area or luff, foot, leech) of the tree? Are there other kinds?

3. Is it worthwhile to sink a 1,000$ for it?

4. What are good sources in the US to compare prices?

Thank you all for the attention

Cheers

Marco

Hi Marco,

There will be a new spinnaker design available pretty soon which should give more fun than the existing one. Contact www.sportmohr.de or www.sport-mohr@t-online.de and ask for a price. Here in the US you do not find such good price options than with sportmohr. The Mohr brothers have won many EUROs and know what they sell and talk about. The old Spi kit needed some improvement though it is good so maybe prices go down under 1000 EURO?

Regards

Fritz
