Latest on getting out membership cards?
Thanks for the stuff you emailed, Tami
I was unable to open the dbase -- probably because my Access is an old version. And we don't dare change as it holds our magazine subscribers.
The brochure looks fine. Shouldn't we find a printer and get it done up and distributed?
Again, I have to ask the question of where are the membership cards. I know I have not received one.
Wondering?
Rick
Rick,
That's me too - I've finished getting the database to automatically generate the cards and the envelopes and am struggling a little bit trying to figure out how to distrute the file so it can easily be printed. I'll likely have files ready to be printed tomorrow and will email them to Bob.
In the near future, I hope to have a run-time version of the database that will not need Microsoft Access to run.
Bob,
Good idea!
If everyone likes the brochure, and you have a reasonably priced printer, perhaps you could enclose a copy of that with the card.
Also, if we can make up enough copies, we could send a couple hundred to each member of the board and Committee chairs to take with them to regattas to hand out at registration.
Another thing we could be doing is asking regatta organizers if they would hand them out at regattas where none of us happen to attend.
Jake, didn't you suggest sending decals for sails, windshields, etc. as well.
And on the database, is there any way to lift just the email address to develop an emailing for voting. If you don't have, I have a program that will go through text files and pull out all the email address and send to them one at a time (not using BCC or having an entire list of addresses -- bad because they can then end up on spam mailings)
Rick
Rick,
It's a piece of cake to extract the email addresses from the database. I can output a text file that lists them all - will take about 10 minutes to set up and will be automatic in the future (push the button and choose a file name). Somebody should be able to just copy and paste the addresses into an email (until we get too many addresses for one email - then we need a bulk service). I'll post that here tonight.
I have about 80 small 3" NAMSA stickers, one 6' yellow NAMSA banner, and a couple hundred (?) folded brochures that Tami provided me. Bob, I'll get some of those stickers and a handfull of brochures mailed to you very soon to be included with the mailings.
Jake,
We need to get about 1000 of those brochures and get them to all board members or anyone that goes to regattas and is willing to see to it that the registration folks at the regattas hand them out.
For example, I am heading for a regatta this weekend in St Augustine and it would be great to have some.
So, I will xerox what Tami sent for this weekend, but printing a bunch would be a lot less money.
Rick
Here is the "snap" file (a generic output file from MS Access) that has the membership cards in it with the latest info from Tami. Bob, try and print this but I'm afraid the formatting will be a problem. If you can't print this, I'll print the sheets and mail them to you for now. Envelopes will be attached in the next post. You may need to download the microsoft "Snap" viewer in order to open this.
Jake,
The file opened...looks great! If you don't have any heartburn with it, I'm gonna change the date of membership to month/year since I haven't recorded the exact day the members I have came on board. I'll add my members and then print the cards. Next item of business is to get a list of things NAMSA is doing so I can send out a one page newsletter with the membership cards.
Thanks Again,
Bob
