I heard of someone who named their boat

Job Site

, that way when his work would call, his wife would tell them that he was out on the

Job Site

.

Not my boats, but both from the same club.

Nacra 5.0

Msagro

Nacra 5.2

Remucking Farkable

It took the *mums* of the club some months to work out

Msagro

was

Orgasm

spelt back to front. however once they did there were plenty of complaints! The name stood unchanged.

Taipan 4.9 - Ragnarok.
Chose the name because of the connotations - it is the predicted end of the world from norse mythology, and is a synonym for chaos. we thought it sorta accurately described what we cause on a race course.
the attached logo goes all the way along the front of the boat.

That looks pretty cool! It takes me a while to find a graphical balance...and this one is taking some time. Here's what I'm looking at on the A-cat...since it's an

organism

, I thought some eyes would be in order. I tried all sorts of single cell creatures but it just doesn't look right. This is still a work in progress.

I am boatless now. Thinking about a Nacra F17Sl for next boat after talking to Bob Curry. This was my last named boat.

Paxil

I feel totally at ease with a name that depicts my need for speed and a drug that slows things down .. lol

I stopped sailing (racing) do in part to my temper .. Paxil allows me to remain focused, happy and to enjoy our sport, even when things don't go well on the water..fun, thats the name of this game.

OK, not a cat name (but do have an A-cat), but got one of those foiling moth things coming. Since I live in Asia planning on calling it:

I foil you long time

.

Just have to learn how go long time as opposed to the lots of short times to begin with...

Names I have been toying with...Sublime (almost bought a yellow boat at one point and my GF told me I would have to name her Sub-lemon), Living Dead Girl (Rob Zombie reference), Walenda's Nightmare (for the circus fans out there), 4MyMel (After a beautiful girl lost to a tragic accident).

I've been looking for him! I couldn't figure out his name (no kids) - that's the best image I've seen of him...I'll try that.

I'm sure there's some copyright violation, but you're not doing it for profit, so you're really doing some free advertising, right?

And who said Spongebob's for kids? That's my favorite show, although I wouldn't encourage my kids to watch it (a little irreverent and pessemistic - who wants kids to be that way?)

Best line from Spongebob

Don't worry Captain, we can buff out those scratches!

(after boat destroyed by backing into rocks)

No deep meaning. After 28 years of sailing cats, the boat name is self explanatory.

I sail So L'Eau single-handed.
...Mind you, it's not as wet as I thought it would be, yet.

Five year old and Wife named this one for me. Very convenient because I was stumped after I got the finish coating on. I hadn't really thought about it, and had no name for years.Kids on old soul and thinks he's a surfer.

A long time ago I had a Laser that I bought used, and the name on the transom was

Yssup Tew.

You have to read it backwards. <img src=

alt=

/>

Anyway, be careful what you name your boat, because it could come back to haunt you. Like the Hobie 16 that had the name

Wet Screams

on it, and when it capsized and turtled, one of the crew got trapped beneath the boat and drowned. <img src=

And I also have a problem with the name

Incorrigible,

because we worked on a monohull boat once that had that name and the first owner's wife died of cancer soon after the boat was built. He sold the boat to a second man, and that owner's wife also soon died of cancer.

So call me superstitious. <img src=

Here's the link to the South Dakota university student video (at the H20 NAC's) with exerts of

flipper

, flipping (3rd time) after

flipper

flipped on the first downwind leg jibe, and then flipped (again) immediately after righting.

Capsize

just seems so anaesthetic.

There's two other videos in here of the event
